What is the Hynds LC® Range?

The Hynds LC® range represents a significant step forward in sustainable infrastructure. Developed by Hynds Pipe Systems, this innovative line of reinforced concrete pipes and precast concrete products combines the company’s industry-leading quality with carbon reduction technology, delivering high-performance solutions with a lower environmental impact.

Designed to help contractors meet sustainability targets, the Hynds LC® range offers the same durability, strength, and installation efficiency as Hynds’ standard products – without sacrificing time, cost, or quality. Products in the range use identical joint profiles, dimensions, and lifting anchors, allowing seamless integration into existing construction workflows.

What’s Included in the Range?

Manufactured in New Zealand, the Hynds LC® range includes:

  • Reinforced concrete pipes (including jacking and lined pipes)
  • Manholes
  • Drainage pits and channels
  • Box culverts
  • Custom precast products
  • Concrete components of stormwater treatment devices, tanks, and troughs

While there are some limitations – such as availability of small diameter concrete pipes in the North Island – Hynds is actively working to expand and improve the range.

How Carbon Reductions are Achieved

Hynds LC® products meet existing standards and use approved materials, with carbon reductions achieved through:

  • Lower cement content: Increased use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) like fly ash and blast furnace slag, which not only reduce carbon emissions but also enhance concrete durability.
  • Selective procurement: Sourcing components with lower carbon footprints from a diverse, quality-assured supply chain.
  • Optimised design: Modifying product designs to reduce embodied carbon based on specific project requirements.
